Fortnite Valentine’s Day UPDATE: Overtime Challenges, new skins, downtime news – Express

The Fortnite Valentine's Day update arrives today
UPDATE ONE: The Fortnite Valentine’s Day update will be going live very soon, starting with server downtime at 9am, GMT.
This will be followed by official patch notes and the update being released on all platforms. The new Overtime Challenges are expected to go live after scheduled maintenance has been completed.
ORIGINAL: Epic Games are launching a new Fortnite update on Valentine’s Day, something that wasn’t part of their original plans.
Technical issues forced the Battle Royale development team to delay their next patch by a day, meaning that a lot of new content is set to land today, February 14.
Some of this new stuff is based around the Share the Love Valentine’s Day event, while other parts are in important to the base game.
Those who are looking forward to today’s update can expect a new list of challenges to complete and skins to unlock if they own a Battle Pass.
There’s plenty of new stuff coming to Fortnite Battle Royale this week, some of which is already available.
Those who want to unlock new cosmetic items can do so by entering a Creator Code, which will reward you with the free Cuddle Hearts Wrap.
And if you do this right now, you will receive the new cosmetic item after today’s update has rolled out on all platforms.
Server downtime is scheduled to begin at 9am in the UK, meaning the new item could be in your possession in just a few hours.
While the ten weeks of normal challenges are over, Fortnite fans can look forward to a new set, starting today.
Starting with the release of today’s update, all players will have access to new, additional Overtime Challenges.

Overtime Challenges will be available to complete until the end of the month and will include a total of five rewards.
This includes the Valentine Wrap and Vines Contrail, which will help complete the Valentine’s Day event cosmetic bundle.
There will also be new skins to unlock via the new Overtime Challenges for those who own a Battle Pass.
These include new unlockable styles for the Trog, Powder, and Onesie outfits and might be added to at a later date by Epic Games.
And with the end of Season 7 nearing, Epic Games are also offering a set of bonuses for fans who are still completing their Battle Passes.
All players will receive double XP during the weekends of February 15-17 and 22-24, providing plenty of time to polish off the remaining challenges.
Epic Games has also announced that the Competitive Share the Love series will also see new features used in the tournament system during the “Share the Love” Competitive Series after update 7.40 is released.
Here’s more from Epic Games, who write: “Players will unlock the next division by earning a pin during any daily session.
“Players who manage to earn a pin during a Champion Division session will unlock access to the Champion Division Finals to take place February 23 and 24.

“Look out for special sprays related to the “Share the Love” Competitive Series for each division of the competition.”
The final piece of the Valentine’s Day patch will be the reintroduction of a vaulted weapon.
The Cupid Crossbow will be returning to the island for a limited time as part of the seasonal celebrations.
The in-game news feed has announced as much, an early indicator of what is being planned for the coming week.
The Fortnite message reads: “Triumphant Return! Cupid’s Crossbow will be unvaulted for a limited time. Eliminate your opponents with stealth and precision.”
The crossbow made its debut back in 2018 and was part of an earlier Valentine’s Day update from Epic Games.
The Crossbow boasted an unlimited ammo type and could be found from floor loot and treasure chests.
This weapon comes in both Rare and Epic variants and is expected to follow the same rules when it returns today.
