When you live with HIV, it’s important to do your best to take care of yourself. This includes eating well, being active, having solid social support, and managing stress.
People with HIV are living full, vibrant, and healthy lives. With advances in HIV treatment, it’s very possible to get your viral load to an undetectable level. When HIV is undetectable, it can’t be transmitted to another person. The right treatment can prevent HIV from progressing to AIDS.
Staying on antiretroviral treatment (ART) is the most important thing you can do for your health. Other health habits matter, too. Having a healthy lifestyle can improve your energy and mood and allow you to stay consistent with treatment. It may also help manage any side effects you experience with ART.
Having a solid support network is another essential part of your health. Feeling connected to others is shown to improve your overall health. There’s also research that suggests that greater social support is associated with more consistency in taking ART.
Here are some tips to help you feel your best.
