Tiger 3 box office collection day 3: Salman Khan finally has a blockbuster on his hands, delivers biggest opening weekend of his career – The Indian Express

Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 hit two new records on just its third day of release. The action-thriller, a part of the YRF Spy Universe of interconnected films, made an estimated Rs 43.5 crore on Tuesday, after making over Rs 100 crore across its first two days of release. Tiger 3’s nett domestic total now stands at Rs 148 crore, according to numbers shared by YRF. This is Salman’s 17th movie to cross the Rs 100 crore nett mark, and his biggest-ever opening weekend.
The film already delivered his biggest-ever opening. Tiger 3 unconventionally opened on a Sunday to coincide with the Diwali holiday, and made Rs 44 crore. The film showed bumper growth on day two of release, when it made Rs 58 crore. Globally, the film has made more than Rs 220 crore, which puts it on track to overtake Ek Tha Tiger’s Rs 330 crore global gross from just over a decade ago. By comparison, 2017’s Tiger Zinda Hai grossed Rs 565 crore.
On day three, Tiger 3 reported Hindi-language occupancy of 33%, while the token Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions saw an occupancy of under 20% each. Tiger 3 isn’t proving to be as popular in South Indian regions as Shah Rukh Khan’s two 2023 hits, Pathaan and Jawan. Both movies concluded their global runs with over Rs 1000 crore, a benchmark that Salman has come close to breaching, but has never actually crossed. His highest-grossing film worldwide remains Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which made over Rs 900 crore. After overtaking the first Tiger’s lifetime haul, Tiger 3 will aim to surpass the Rs 475 global gross posted by Hrithik Roshan’s War.
Starring Salman and Katrina Kaif, Tiger 3 is directed by Maneesh Sharma, and is the fifth instalment in YRF’s shared universe of spy films. The franchise also includes Pathaan and War. Both Shah Rukh and Hrithik appeared for cameos in Tiger 3, setting up future installments. War 2 is currently in production under the direction of Ayan Mukerji, and a Tiger vs Pathaan film has already been teased with director Siddharth Anand attached.
