The much-anticipated downtown food truck court powered by the Marshalltown Central Business District (MCBD) officially soft launched on Sunday with Clare’s Tenderloins and Big Acai Bowls serving up their specialties and hungry residents making their way to the Cartwright Pavilion at the intersection of North 2nd Avenue and East State Street. MCBD board members Jim Johnson and Travis Hornberg, who were on hand and engaged in a contentious game of cornhole, said both food trucks were happy with the turnout, and they hope it will continue to grow in the future. The plan is for the trucks, which will rotate, to be set up on Sunday, Monday and Tuesdays when many brick and mortar restaurants in Marshalltown are closed, but in a social media post Sunday evening, the MCBD indicated it would not be open today due to mechanical issues.
