Animal box office collection day 6: Ranbir Kapoor-starrer collects Rs 527 crore worldwide, is less than Rs 30 crore short of beating Sanju’s record – The Indian Express

The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal has taken just six days to cross the Rs 300 crore benchmark in India. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has collected Rs 312.96 crore nett in the domestic market in less than a week of release. On the sixth day, it recorded its lowest collections, which stood at Rs 30 crore; even though this is the lowest single-day haul in Animal’s run, it’s more than the lifetime collections of most Bollywood films. Animal’s worldwide collection stands at Rs 527.6 crore after six days, as per T-Series, the production banner behind of the film.
Animal started its box office journey by collecting Rs 63.8 crore on its opening day. The film recorded its highest collection on its third day when it made Rs 71.46 crore at the box office. On its first Monday, the movie made a huge Rs 43.96 crore, followed by Rs 37.47 crore on Tuesday. The overall occupancy of Animal was at 34.88% on Wednesday. In the Delhi-NCR region, the film had 1290 shows with an occupancy of 48.25%, and in Mumbai, the film had 1003 shows with an occupancy of 38.75%.
Animal is now the fourth-biggest Bollywood movie of the year after Jawan, Pathaan and Gadar 2. Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan collected Rs 643.87 crore in India, followed by Pathaan, which made Rs 543.05 crore. Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 earned Rs 525.45 crore. Animal has already surpassed Tiger 3’s lifetime collection of Rs 284.05 crore, and has a clear run until SRK’s Dunki debuts in theatres on December 21.

Animal is on the verge of passing Sanju’s lifetime collections and becoming Ranbir’s biggest-ever hit. The 2018 film, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, made Rs 342.53 crore when it released. Animal is Rs 29.57 crore short of crossing Sanju’s collections. For director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, this film has turned out to be an even bigger hit than Kabir Singh. The Shahid Kapoor-starrer made Rs 278.24 crore nett in India when it released in 2019. Animal is achieving these box office milestones despite an A rating, a nearly three and a half hour run time, and toxic reviews.
With a few more weeks in the theatres, there is a possibility that the film could manage to break Pathaan’s lifetime record at the box office.
