The Monroe County Health Department released its May 2024 food inspection report, with 49 locations receiving critical violations.
According to Monroe County’s website, critical violations are defined as incidents likely to directly contribute to a foodborne disease.
AFC Sushi at Kroger J330: 1825 N. Kinser Pike
One violation was due to refrigerated food being held for over 24 hours without a date marking.
Arepa Burger: Food Truck Friday
One violation was due to debris and buildup on the hood and hood screens.
Avers Pizza (North): 1837 N. Kinser Pike
One violation was due to debris buildup on pop nozzles.
Big Woods Bloomington: 116 N. Grant St.
One violation was due to debris buildup in the ice machine.
Bloomingfoods Market & Deli: 3220 E. Third St.
One violation was due to sliced chicken, tofu and marinated mushrooms stored at 54°F – 48°F and mashed potatoes, beef stew and boiled rice stored at 48°F.
Bloomington Superior Fuel doing business as Third Street Express: 4001 W. Third St.
One violation was due to five dented cans on a shelf.

One violation was due to multiple cans having dents on the seams.
Dunkin Donuts: 300 S. College Mall Road
One violation was due to the sanitizer dispenser in the Baskin Robbins area and all sanitizer buckets measuring zero PPM.
Fat Dan’s Deli: 221 E. Kirkwood Ave., Ste. 1
One violation was due to a buildup in pop nozzles behind the bar and in the ice machine in the back.
Fazoli’s #1627: 315 College Mall Road
One violation was due to debris on pop nozzles.
Feta Kitchen: 600 E. Hillside Drive
One violation was due to a meat mixture in the reach-in cooler with no labels and being stored at 46°F. According to the CDC, deli meats should be stored at a temperature of 41°F or below.
Food Mart (Ellettsville): 7398 W. State Road 46
One violation was due to pest droppings found near the mop sink and underneath the soda dispenser.

One violation was due to the chemical sanitizer concentration being too high. According to the West Virginia University Sanitizing Fact Sheet, sanitizer should range from 50 to 100 PPM and should be a mixture of 1 tablespoon of bleach per gallon of water for sanitizing food contact surfaces.
Lan Ramen and Aqua Tea: 250 S. Washington St.
One violation was due to the hand sink needed to be clean at all times and used for no other purpose than hand washing.
Lotus Garden: 110 S. Washington St.
One violation was due to raw meat being stored above vegetables.
