The owner of Wright’s Gourmet House, the Tampa institution known for its cakes and sandwiches, is in talks to sell the restaurant to restaurateur Blake Casper.
With his sister Allison Adams, Casper owns the hospitality company Oxford Commons, which operates Tampa restaurants Oxford Exchange, Predalina, the Stovall House and Casa Cami and St. Petersburg’s The Library.
When a Tampa Bay Times reporter called Wright’s on Tuesday, customer service representative Danielle Matherson said that Casper will be taking over the restaurant during the next few months. Matherson said the menu will stay the same.
But Jess Anderson, director of business development for Oxford Commons, said the sale has been delayed and has not yet gone through.
Wright’s was opened in 1963 in South Tampa by Marjorie and Pete Wright. Its menu grew over the years, adding items like its popular cakes. In 1981, the Wrights’ grandson Jeff Mount bought the restaurant and has run it since then.
